The Horned Hereford has been the breed of choice for the Hoffman Ranch since the late 19th century when the decision was made to focus on raising cattle instead of sheep. At that time, Duval county was the largest sheep producing county in the United States, more than sixty thousand of which made their home on the ranch. The first herd of Hoffman Herefords traveled by ship with their new owner directly from England. The strength of the breed is pronounced by its toleration of extended droughts, and the ability to thrive in the brush country extremes. We are excited to watch these gentle Herefords grow, and proud to see them wear the rockin' h brand.
